What Makes Me Tick?

I seek a lot of inspiration from the landscape around me, be it walking on the beach, running in the hills or looking at the delicate architecture of a flower.

I love design and I adore photography, periodically holding small exhibitions in little out of the way places.

My philosophy is that it pays to keep things simple, whether it be a design, a photograph or a web site. Keeping it simple, getting to the point quickly and simply and talk to people as though they are human beings can yield great results.

I'm pleased to meet you. The dog and the cat would say hi too but they're sleeping, and they cant talk.

Bits of Paper

I've spent most of my childhood and adult life addicted to technology, gadgets of any sort and indeed the web. I can cast my mind back to when the web was new, when pages took minutes to load and the disbelief when my first friend got a 56k baud modem. How could anyone live at that speed! I remember gold laser discs and insanely heavy 21" CRT monitors. Don't get me started about the world of 8bit either.

Anyway, the gist of this is that I've been connected to technology in many ways the majority of my life. In addition to being a bit of geek, I have also gained a BA in Business Studies with Special Honours so I know how to relate web sites to their business purposes. I understand your needs. Initially I was a self taught in the area of web design but have honed those skills working in a number of IT roles over the years. Several courses later and I am W3 certified in HTML and CSS. I use XHTML 1.0 and CSS 2.1 to create standards compliant web sites. I have been self employed as a web designer since 2005.

Bits & Bytes

I code my web sites by hand rather than using off the peg solutions, however I use Adobe Creative Suite 4 Web Premium as it gives a nice workflow and speeds up construction and maintenance. Primarily using Fireworks, Dreamweaver & Photoshop amongst other specialist tools means that your work is done quickly and cleanly and easily editable by you if required.
